Corns and Calluses
Callus is layers of dead skin that build up superficially to form hard and thick skin.
Corns, similar to callus, are also hard skin however they vary in shape and depth as they drill deeper into the skin. Corns can also occur inter-digitally between toes.

Causative factors:

- Friction
- Pressure
- Biomechanical factors - how a person walks/distributes weight across their feet
- Autoimmune conditions
- Inappropriate footwear/ wrong sizing

Corns are often more painful and can feel almost like a pebble. As they dig in further into the skin, corns can cause damage to the deeper skin layers and lead to ulcerations and infections.
Calluses and dry skin are prone to cracks that can lead to portal of entry for infections.

Thus its important to remove corns and callouses in order to prevent ulcerations and infections.
Individuals are at higher risk if there's any underlying chronic disease history – such as diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, or circulatory problems.
